Prior to working at TASLAF she worked at a Ugandan company offering legal support to their corporate and employment departments. Jemimah has drafted complex contracts, advised on employment issues, and supported on a number of financing transactions. She has advised on deal structuring and also advised local and multinational entities on compliance obligations, necessary formalities and regulatory approvals. Jemimah holds a Bachelors of Laws (LLB) degree from University of Central Lancashire in the United Kingdom. She completed the Legal Practice Course from the same university and also obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) in Legal Practice (with Merit) from University of Central Lancashire in 2020.

    • Assisted in supporting various Companies in drafting major employment and Human Resource policies. 
    • Assisted in reviewing all contracts and policies, such as employment contracts, human resource manuals, sexual harassment policies, volunteer contracts, probation contracts, casual/temporary staff contracts and consultancy contracts and tenancy agreements for entities such as Cycle Connect, Village energy Limited, Okoa Refuge, Church World Service, Forgotten Children Worldwide Inc, among others. 
    • Assisted in advising on key employment questions such as probationary period, disciplinary hearings, dismissal and termination, severance pay, to mention but a few.

    Arbitration and Dispute Resolution

    • Assisted in advising several clients in employment disputes at all litigation levels.
    • Assisted in acting for a client in a landmark dispute regarding culpability for loss as a result of a default in obtaining insurance cover, an area not clearly provided for under existing Ugandan laws. [Kizito Hussein]

    • Assisted in advising various multinational venture funds such as Bid Capital on setting up in Uganda and the applicable registration and licensing requirements (such as registration with Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority) for their operations. (2023)
