Alison Muguluma is a Legal Associate at TASLAF Advocates. She specialises in Legal and Regulatory Compliance for NGO’s and Companies, Immigration, Pro Bono practice and general Corporate Advisory work as well as Employment. Alison has gained comprehensive experience working with diverse clients, ranging from local start-ups to large multinational corporations. She has offered legal support and corporate advisory to such entities with regard to the non-profit sector compliance obligations, Immigration law, Company Compliance obligations, anti-money laundering obligations as well as data protection and privacy obligations. She has also advised on employment issues.

Transactional Experience

Advising and assisting NGOS such as Mercy Corps, Swiss Church Aid (Heks/Eper) on the regulatory and compliance aspects under the Non-Governmental Organizations regime in Uganda including but not limited to registration with the NGO Bureau, renewal of NGO permits, NGO Validation, filing of annual returns and procuring recommendation letters on behalf of NGOs for their Expatriates. Advised on the regulatory compliance requirements of an international non-governmental organization and assisted the NGO in regularizing its operations in Uganda.

Advising and registering companies and NGOs with the Personal Data Protection Office such as Uganda Biodiversity Trust Fund, Willow International. Assisting in the drafting and reviewing of security documents and perfection of securities for various lenders and investor companies.

Carrying out basic legal due diligence exercises on debt and equity investments on potential investee companies for and on behalf of investors such as Redsalt Angel Investment Network, Igravity, Incofin Investment Management as part of their pre-screening process.

Advising expatriate workers working for both NGOs and companies such as Imprint Hope on the types of work permits and special passes that they should acquire and obtained the necessary permits for them.

Advising and assisting companies and NGOs on registration and compliance requirements with the Financial Intelligence Authority (FIA) such as American Bar Association, Mercy Corps, Church World Service.
